Origin and Founding
Brassica Mustard began as a labor of love in 1995 when we started making mustard from the highest quality Alberta-grown seeds and local honey, as Christmas gifts for family and friends. Word of its deliciousness spread and in 2001 we began selling jars to condiment connoisseurs in Calgary and beyond.
The company launched with two original flavours, Roasted Garlic and Cranberry. As word spread and sales grew, Brassica set a new standard of excellence among chefs, home cooks, and lovers of hand-crafted foodstuffs.
Joining the Meta4 Foods family
In spring 2019, the company’s founders passed the mustard torch to Chef Eric Giesbrecht, a longtime Brassica fan and food industry colleague. With their guidance, Brassica’s invaluable recipes and production techniques became part of Chef Eric’s repertoire and product list at Meta4 Foods.
Chef Eric is committed to maintaining Brassica’s reputation for quality and consistency, while developing new flavours for the next generation of mustard aficionados from his considerable inventory of incredible Canadian ingredients.
